This month, Hillel Tel Aviv recently launched a new partnership with Hillel North Texas, bringing together 14 students, seven from Israel and seven from the U.S., for a shared, structured an ongoing learning experience across continents, even as students in Israel navigate wartime conditions.
The first session focused on building connection, beginning in small groups before expanding into a full group conversation. The program was designed to help Through structured dialogue, students get to know one another through meaningful dialogue from the very beginning.
As the conversation deepened, students engaged directly with the realities explored how current events are shaping their lives. They spoke about the impact of, from war in Israel, rising antisemitism, and the pressures students are navigating on campuses in both countries. Each participant brought their own perspective, shaped by their daily experiences.
The discussion was described as highly engaging, with students openly sharing uncertainties, questions, and viewpoints. The group approached the conversation with curiosity and a willingness to listen, even when perspectives differed.
For many participants, this kind of space is rare. It creates an opportunity to connect across distance while engaging with issues that affect them in very different ways. At a time when global Jewish identity can feel fragmented, the program provides a framework for students to engage with one another as part of a shared story.
This is the beginning of an ongoing series. In the coming sessions, students will continue exploring questions of Jewish identity and how those ideas take shape through conversation, relationships, and lived experience.
This program is part of Hillel Israel’s broader international programming, connecting students across communities through partnerships including Hillel Tel Hai–Ottawa, Philly–Sapir, and Jerusalem–CASE.
