Hillel Israel's announcement regarding recent legislative changes in Israel:

We call on the Israeli government not to ignore the global Jewish community when it comes to making critical decisions involving the Jewish State and the Jewish people.

In recent years, the rift between Israeli Jews and North American Jews, the largest Jewish community outside the State of Israel, has grown. We may now be reaching a point of severe disconnect. The exclusion of Diaspora Jews, who hold a wide range of Jewish outlooks alongside a deep and lasting commitment to Israel, is an outcome that the Jewish people cannot afford.

"We set out to create something bold, an international ‘mifgash’ program – a joint cohort of Israeli students from Bar-Ilan University and American students from Rutgers University to learn together, exchange ideas and get to know one another,” said Noga Brenner Samia, Executive Director of Hillel Israel."

Hundreds of rabbis have already signed a letter initiated by Israeli Rabbinic Network, a partnership of the Shalom Hartman Institute and the Midrasha at Oranim, calling for action to free the hostages.

"One Ben-Gurion University student told me of the impact of meeting and learning with peers from the US through a course we designed at Hillel Israel, with support from the Julius Stulman Foundation. That “really opened a window for me into my own Jewish-Israeli identity…the texts, content and discussions gave us an opportunity to think, speak, listen, learn from and learn about Jews who are different than us and about ourselves.”
